It can be extremely frustrating when you hear about your family members, friends, and coworkers being able to lose weight on one particular diet and then seeing that it does not work for you. You may have watched as someone dropped a lot of weight extremely fast and then was able to keep the weight off for a long time. When you asked about the details of the diet and tried it, you barely saw the needle on the scale move. What is the problem?

Everyone is different, and so a person needs to find a diet plan that is going to work for their body type. They need to find a diet plan that is going to work for their lifestyle. For this reason, it is important for a person to work with a professional who will be able to draw up a personalized nutrition plan and weight loss strategy. Many have found that they are able to finally lose the weight and reach their goals after working with a professional.

When you work with a nutritionist or the many professionals who work in weight loss clinics, you first will get the training and knowledge that is needed in order to lose weight. You will learn about nutrition and how your body processes food. Then you will get the support that is needed to actually make your weight loss a reality. Something that is often addressed in weight loss clinics is the emotional side of why a person may be overweight. At times, a person can develop an unhealthy attachment to food or even become a food addict because of other problems going on in their life. When these issues are addressed and a person learns more about nutrition, they are set on a road that will lead them to success.

Can I really lose 10 pounds in a month?

While you do feel happy for your friends or family members when they are able to lose weight and keep it off, you may not be able to help think why it hasn’t worked for you. When you have professionals helping you and you have a personalized plan drawn up for your body type and circumstances, you can have success.

There are many reasons people go to a psychic for a reading, some want to know about their future job and career opportunities, some want to know about a loved one who has passed away, some are looking for a path to happiness because they have lost their way. Still others have questions about their love life. This latter area of an individual’s life is often riddled with uncertainty, but it is love psychics who have the ability to help you with this problem.

Psychics can help with your relationship problems
If you are in a relationship that is heading in the wrong direction, it is only natural to wonder if you should continue the relationship in the hope that things will get better or to end it now. It can be a difficult decision, especially if you have strong feelings for the other person, but if the relationship is headed for a breakup, then it is best not to invest any more of your time and emotion into it. Then again, if there is a good chance that things will get better, you don’t want to walk away from the one you love. A psychic can listen to your story and help you make the right decisions.

Psychics can help you with a future relationship
Are you feeling lonely? Perhaps you are looking for that special person to share your life with, but no matter what happens in your life, you never seem to meet this person. A reading with a psychic can give you important insights into your love life that will help you look forward to the future. A psychic may also be able to help you with knowing how best to find this new relationship that you are looking for, and the likeliest places you will find this person. There are many possibilities, but knowing that you have a future romantic partner out there, and you will meet this person, is often an uplifting feeling.

Psychics can help you resolve issues with loved no longer living
Psychics can help you with questions about loved ones who have passed away. Perhaps someone you loved died when there was a problem between the two of you. A psychic can reach across to the other side and help you communicate is such a way that you can experience closure with your loved one, or simply have the satisfaction of knowing they are all right.

There are many ways a psychic can help you with your love life, so if you have never used the services of one before, you should keep an open mind and give one a chance.

There is no doubt about the fact that individuals nowadays are busy. Working a 9-to-5 job, taking care of responsibilities, pursuing hobbies, enjoying entertainment, and doing everything else can be very tiring. It is a good idea for individuals to take advantage of different services that are available in order to help them care for their responsibilities and possibly be able to enjoy a little bit of downtime.

If you have an older individual in your family or an individual who has a disability in the family, it is very likely that you need to transport your loved one from one place to another in order to help them get to doctors appointments as well as other places. When you already have a busy schedule, you can take advantage of disability transportation Dallas TX in order to help you transport your loved one safely. The great thing about using this transportation service is that you can be sure that your loved one will safely arrive at their destination, and then you will be able to carry on with other normal activities.

Most transportation service companies have websites that will give you an idea of who is driving the vehicle as well as give other important details. You want to work with a reputable company. You will likely be able to read reviews by other individuals who are in your exact same circumstances. They may need their loved one transported from one place to another, but they do not have the time or the ability to do it on their own. You will be able to read about the experience they have had with the particular company and then decide if that company is right for you and your loved one.

Many large families have found that they are able to share the responsibility of transporting elderly parents or disabled family members. They will set up a schedule that will allow these family members to get from one place to another and not put the burden of transportation on just one individual. In order for a family to be able to function well in this situation, communication is of utmost importance. If one individual in the family is not able to actually drive the disabled or elderly person, they may be able to contribute monetarily in order to help the whole family.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been experiencing bloating and flatulence. This usually happens after lunch, all the way until bed time. Initially, I didn’t give it much thought and guessed that I must have eaten some gas-causing food. However, when the bouts of bloating and flatulence struck me painfully every single day, I knew something wasn’t right internally. I thought hard and tried to trace back what could have caused the bloating and flatulence. Was it a particular fruit or food that I ate? Was it the timing that I ate? Did I lack certain enzyme to digest the food that I ate? Was it the combination of food? For days, I tried to track the triggers and finally, I suspected that it was the icy cold water that I had been drinking every day ever since our country has been hit by a heatwave contributed by El Nino. I did a Google search to see if drinking cold water would cause bloating and flatulence and BINGO!  I found the culprit!!

Today, I avoided drinking cold water, though the weather has been hot and humid during the day.  Miraculously I did not get any bloating, belching and flatulence attack. I also found that each time I drank milk, I would have flatulence (I am slightly lactose-intolerent).  YES, I finally found the cause of my misery!!   Today has been pleasantly sweet with no more smelly and choking toxic, sulphur gas in the air 😀  And my tummy is now deflated with no more bloating 🙂

Why Drinking Cold Water / Eating Cold Food Cause Indigestion, Bloating And Flatulence

Both metabolism and digestion work best when they are working in a warm environment. Think about how you feel when you are sitting on the beach on a nice warm day versus if you are walking around in the middle of a snow storm. Being at the beach we can run around in flip flops and shorts whereas in the winter we have to bundle up to our eyes just to stay warm. The cold, like winter, makes everything contract. We want to move away from the cold, get out of the cold, retreat from the cold.

The internal workings of the body work is very much the same way. While the  coldness of a drink can feel very refreshing on a hot day we have to remember that the body is very open and receptive and moving beautifully when it is warm. If we add ice cold water to the system everything will begin to contract, slow down, and retreat.

Ice cold water, cold food like raw vegetables and treats like ice-cream will cause the stomach to slow down and the vessels of the stomach to contract. This contraction while momentary can still cause the digestion to slow itself down. This slowing down could cause the stomach to have food stagnation or over time what we call cold in the stomach.

What happens when the stomach is cold and slows down? The stomach is responsible for ripening and rotting the food. It then takes this broken down food and distributes it around the body. If the stomach is moving slowly and feels contracted, this food may stay there, take too long to digest and then getting fermented causing gas, bloating, belching, and aching. Additionally, if the body is not absorbing the nutrients often enough and in a timely manner then there can be a backup in the system.  This causes constipation and a feeling of being bloated.

3 Unhealthy Habits That Cause Bloated Stomach

In order to maintain a normal healthy metabolism, everything we eat or drink should be close to our body’s normal temperature. However, particularly in hot weather or as a matter of habit, almost everyone likes to drink cold beverages or eat cold foods (like ice cream) without noticing the potential problems that will be encountered or connecting it to the temperature of the food or drink you take into your body.

When we eat or drink, our stomachs produce enzymes needed for digestion that can only survive in a limited temperature range in the body. When cold food or drink is ingested, our bodies have to counteract the temperature difference in order to preserve a suitable environment for these enzymes in the stomach for our digestion to function well. However, when cold food and/or beverages enter the esophagus, it encounters the warm vaporized fluid in the lungs. The result is phlegm formed in the lungs which lowers lung function and capacity. Prolonged ingestion of cold food and drink can cause coughs, susceptibility to the flu or other illnesses, dry skin and numerous other symptoms. Moreover, the phlegm blocks the free flow of energy up and down the body which can impair the affected person’s ability to maintain a normal temperature.

Because everyone’s constitution is different (whether from inherited traits or an acquired condition), there will be different reactions to ingesting cold substances. “Cold Constitution” people have a lower body temperature and are unable to raise their stomach temperature sufficiently to counteract the cold food and drinks. For our digestion to function properly, it needs sufficient energy and heat to contract and push food through the digestive track.   Cold food and drinks will lower the stomach’s temperature which in turn slows down the digestion process and can cause indigestion. If cold substances are too frequently ingested, the person will often have a poor appetite and experience weight loss. On another hand, the digestive tract will retain food for longer periods of time to allow bacteria additional time to complete the digestion process. In turn, this generates more gas that can cause bloating in the stomach or abdomen.

Here’s the kicker, though: It’s not the same for everyone.   While your sister can jolly well live on ice-creams, ice drinks, beans and cabbages and have no funky issues, those same foods may make you run for cover to avoid the embarrassment.  If you are prone to getting a bloated stomach with flatulence, it’s time you try cutting out cold drinks and foods from your diet.

Being a tad anemic from heavy menstruation caused by a fibroid in my uterus, I am now increasing my iron intake from red beans and spinach. I used to stuff myself with red meat like beef and pork  until I read that high intake of meat, especially red meat takes a toll on our kidneys and liver. Plus too much of red meat may increase our risk to cancer. Red meat from mammals and duck are not recommended for those with fibroids. These foods are likely to be high in added hormones, including estrogen.

Red beans are a healthy alternative to red meat.  Red beans are high in protein, fiber and iron.

I cook a big pot of red beans mixed with mung beans once or twice in a month to pump up my iron, protein and folic acid reserves.

My red bean and mung bean sweet dessert, mildly sweetened with granulated palm sugar and flavored with screwpine leaves.  It would taste even better if fresh coconut milk is added.

I soak my beans overnight to de-gas the beans as well as to remove toxins from the beans. I don’t fancy holy smoke choking everyone  at home after eating those beans 😀   The beans are cooked in the slow cooker on high overnight for at least 9 hours.

What’s The Skinny On Red Beans?

    1) Beans are loaded with nutrients that our bodies crave:
B Vitamins: are necessary for healthy brain and nerve cells, for normal functioning of the skin, nerves and digestive system.

Calcium: for strong bones and teeth and to help keep the body more alkaline, rather than acidic.

Potassium: helps reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke.

Folate: a B vitamin that our bodies don’t produce yet dry beans are our single best source of this important vitamin which helps protect against heart disease and cancer.

    2) Red beans are really, really frugal. A big bag of red beans (non-organic)  only costs a few Ringgit.

    3) Those on a low carb high protein diet can skip the meat and indulge in red beans.  Red beans are a good plant-based source of protein, low in fat, low in GI and high in fiber while meat has no fiber.   One cup of red beans provides more than two egg’s worth of protein.

    4) Red beans are  good for your memory :  source of thiamine (vitamin B1), red bean consumption stimulates attention and memory, is particularly beneficial during periods of intellectual overloaded, eliminate insomnia, combat depression, fatigue and anxiety and lowers Alzheimer’s risks

    5) For better heart health: The soluble fiber in red beans helps to reduce cholesterol levels, while the folate helps to lower levels of homocysteine, a compound associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

    6) Ease muscle cramping: With more magnesium and calcium than a sports drink and more potassium than a large banana, red beans are loaded with electrolytes to help prevent or relieve muscle cramping.

    7) Beans are versatile – it’s impossible to even guess how many bean recipes exist on this planet! One thing is for sure – the number is in the hundreds of thousands and most likely the millions. If I assigned you the task of listing 100 different bean recipes, you could certainly do it!

Several months back, a friend of mine nearly lost her husband to hemorrahagic dengue fever. Her husband was hospitalized for almost 3 months. He had partial loss of memory, his liver and kidneys almost failed him, he had to be intubated and now he has to undergo rehab and physiotherapy. Thank God he survived this deadly disease caused by just one unassuming tiny mosquito.

While he was in ICU at the hospital, my sifu (aka my upline) visited him in the hospital and brought him Izumio hydrogen water. Our friend coaxed her hubby to down the packets of hydrogen water.

Also a few months back, I found out from Facebook that 2 of my friends’ friends succumbed to the deadly dengue fever.  Life is so fragile and so unexpected. I am still learning how to let go of many trivial issues and live each day as if it was my last.

Let me share with you a testimonial from one of our members’ patients who consumed Izumio  when she was hospitalized for Dengue fever recently…

If you know of anyone who is battling Dengue fever now, do give hydrogen water a try.

I attended the girls’ Sports Day in school last Saturday.  It was a very hot and humid day.  When we left the school at about 2pm, the temperature in the car showed 40 degrees Celsius, holy cow!

After being in the sun for over 7 hours, my head was throbbing – from the school, all the way back home.  It’s kind of funny that during my school days, I was a very active teenager whose life was so involved in camping, hiking, cycling, cross-country and did everything under the sun without any issue.  Perhaps the earth  then was not as polluted as it is now, that’s why?  I don’t know. But as I age, I find that I cannot stand being exposed to the sun anymore.

On the Sports Day morning, I lugged along a few packets of Izumio hydrogen water along with me as I knew that everyone would need it badly to rehydrate and recover from the blazing heat.  For 3 years straight, Alycia and Sherilyn were down with fever after attending their Sports Day event under the ferocious sun at the stadium.  Sherilyn lost her voice and had a bad strep throat too.

This year I preempted the fever and ‘heatiness’ with Izumio and it was effective!  I had a blasting headache after 7 hours in the sun but the headache was subdued with 2 packets of Izumio…amazing, I kid you not.  You really got to try it to believe it.

After her team’s relay event, I quickly handed out a packet of Izumio to Cass. She bolted it down.

Once again, Izumio saves the day!  And I am forever thankful to my friend who introduced the product to me.

In our bodies, hydrogen functions as an antioxidant, helping to prevent cell damage and inflammation, protect DNA and combat out-of-control cell growth.  Izumio is a highly concentrated   hydrogen water at 2.6 mg/l or 2.6 ppm.

Hydrogen is the smallest atom in the chemical chart making it perfect for accessing the deepest darkest parts of the body (mitochondrial cells) where others cannot reach. Every chromosome, amino acid and protein block in our bodies need Hydrogen to build good quality cells.

The other morning when I was at the butcher to get some pork ribs to make bakuteh, the butcher who is ever full of handy tips told me to get a wedge of ‘fun kot’ (kudzu root) to boil it with the bakuteh herbs and meat.   The kudzu root will impart natural sweetness and flavor to the pot of bakuteh.  And this root that is full of medicinal properties will also help to expel ‘heatiness’ caused by the bakuteh herbs.

Picture of ‘fun kot’ (kudzu root)

I listened to Keong, the butcher and he was so right!  My pot of bakuteh soup was more flavorful and ‘thick’.  And the next day, my kids and I did not feel ‘heaty’.  I am so thankful to Keong for his handy tip!  I did not even need to add oyster sauce, salt and thick black sauce to add flavor to the broth.  All I added was about 1 tablespoon of organic soy sauce and 1/2 tablespoon of organic blackstrap molasses to darken the broth.

My bakuteh composed of 2 sachets of bakuteh herbs, a head of garlic, pork ribs, dried flower mushrooms, golden needle mushrooms, puffed tofu and hard boiled eggs.

I used Snow Deer brand of bakuteh herbs – one of the best thus far!

I had several of my teeth filled by the dentist this morning.   On top of that, my dentist did scaling on my teeth too.  I have not had my teeth cleansed for yonks and I must slap myself for being such a slack in making regular visits to the dentist.  Brushing our teeth after every meal and flossing everyday are not enough.  Regular visits to the dentist (preferably twice a year) and scaling can help prevent tooth decay and for the dentist to pick up initial stages of tooth decay and rectify it.   I have always been very fastidious in the health and cleanliness of my teeth but I just can’t seem to rid myself the phobia of going to the dentist.  However, after my visit to the dentist 3 months back to remove a mispositioned tooth that was decayed, my phobia of dentist seems to have eased a wee bit.

The reason why several of my teeth were filled was not because of tooth decay but because of erosion of the teeth enamel.  And I can only blame it on the lemon juice that I have been religiously drinking for the past decade.  No doubt lemon juice boasts a host of health benefits but drinking too much of it causes erosion of the teeth enamel.

My other mistake was brushing my teeth too roughly, thinking that by doing so, my teeth will be whiter and cleaner.   In actual fact, brushing the teeth too roughly may wear out the enamel too.

My dentist used an equipment like the one above when she did the filling on my teeth today.

The bill came up to a whopping RM300!

Drinking Lemon Juice And Risk Of Tooth Erosion

Many people regularly drink hot lemon water first thing in the morning. It is suggested that this helps to cleanse the digestive system, stimulate digestive enzymes and possibly even assist with weight loss. Others enjoy eating or sucking or mulling lemon slices. Lemons and lemon juice is essentially citric acid and is highly acidic. Over time, routine consumption of lemon juice will affect your tooth’s outer covering – the enamel.

Drinking lemon juice can put you at risk for tooth erosion, a condition where the thin, protective layer of enamel slowly wears away from your teeth. Lemon juice contains acid, which irritates gums and softens tooth enamel.

Frequent consumption of products that contain acid will eventually destroy the enamel and expose underlying dentin, leaving your teeth vulnerable to sensitivity and tooth decay. In fact, enamel erosion is one of the most common causes of cavities and tooth loss.

Erosion is the loss of tooth enamel, caused most commonly by acid attack. When the enamel is worn away, it exposes the underlying dentin (which is yellower in colour than enamel), and this may cause you to experience painful tooth sensitivity. Acidic foods and drinks can cause enamel erosion. As your enamel erodes it becomes thinner and this allows the yellower dentine that lies below the enamel to be more visible through the enamel. Your teeth may appear indented and yellower and they may also feel rough to the tongue. The temperature of your hot water make a difference to the effect of the lemon juice/water. The rate of chemical reactions increases with temperature and therefore erosion will be more severe at higher temperatures.

Mixing the lemon juice in 250ml of water may help to lessen the acidity. You can further minimise risk by drinking the warm lemon juice through a straw. Using a straw allows the fluid to bypass the teeth.

After drinking the acidic lemon water, rinse your mouth with water immediately. This removes any acid that may remain on the tooth surface and reduces the acidity of the oral saliva. Another option is to chew sugar-free gum after drinking the lemon water: this helps you produce more saliva, which helps neutralise the acidity in your mouth.  DO NOT brush your teeth for at least 60 minutes after drinking the lemon water. Use a soft toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste (fluoride strengthens your enamel) and do not brush aggressively. Why? Because acid softens enamel and makes it more prone to erosion during brushing. If you already have enamel erosion, consult with your dentist. Your dentist may recommend treatments such as resin bonding, veneers or sealants to protect your remaining tooth structure, restore aesthetics and/or minimize sensitivity.
