Recently, a man was seriously injured when a robber tried to pull a ring off his finger and tried to remove his Mens Diamond Watch from his wrist. The slash of the parang was so hard on his stomach that his guts spilled out! And the victim managed to scuttle home to seek help before collapsing. Miraculously he survived the ordeal. Robbers are getting more daring and ruthless these days. My body has been devoid of expensive jewelry and watches for quite some time now. I am playing it safe as I jog round the neighborhood almost everyday.

Phobia
When my girls were toddlers, one of the many fears that plagued me was the TV. Back then, our TVs were the bulky type with a heavy body and a bulging screen. The TV in our bedroom had no tv mount stand but was only placed on top of our 4-tier chest of wooden drawers. I would have morbid visions of the TV dropping onto my young girls as they could get really wild when they play rough. I am glad that their toddler days are over and now, I have a new set of worries over my 3 young girls.
Cocky Real Estate Agent
Years ago, I met a real cocky and snobbish real estate agent when we were looking for a unit at our condominium to purchase. I remember clearly one Sunday morning I made a call to him at about 10ish am. When he finally answered the call, he chided me for calling him so early in the morning. Oh for pete’s sake, 10ish am early? Even if I had called him at 6am, he should not have scolded his customer in that manner and tone. I think he must be having those ‘moments’ with his lover back then and the call must have snapped his temper. And I am surprised that he is still around as a real estate agent. He is no where close to those professional Southport nc real estate agents. He ought to get a wake-up call for chiding off his customer.
Downside of Condo Living
One of the downsides of condo living is that the onus is on you if water from your unit leaks to the floor beneath yours, though you have done nothing wrong. Over the past 4 years, we have hacked our bathroom floor umpteen times to fix the waterproof layering but water is still leaking to the floor beneath ours. I am loathing this (especially loathe the black faced tenant of the unit beneath ours) and fuming mad with the contractor for doing such a shoddy job which is now causing us more leaks in our wallets as well! We have changed several contractors but still the problem does not seem to get solved, sigh! Perhaps it is time to hunt for some reliable contractors online and at the same time, I can get quotes for flooring for basement here for the hubs’s new kiosk.
Unsafe Neighborhood
I used to wear sterling silver jewelry on my neck and wrist, which I do not remove even when I shower and go to bed. In view of the recent spate of brazen snatch thieves in our neighborhood, even in the presence of patrolling guards, I am now devoid of jewelry as I jog round the neighborhood every morning, save for a small waist pouch which I put a small amount of money to buy the newspapers and breakfast. These days I try to minimize jogging in the neighborhood as I had left behind my pepper spray in Ipoh. I am still waiting for the hubs to get me a new pepper spray. Keeping the pepper spray in my pocket gives me a peace of mind.
This School Term Break
This week long school term break, apart from a short holiday in Ipoh, the girls have been spending most of their time watching TV, playing with their new Lego sets which their aunt bought from Hong Kong and playing educational games like educa from the iPad. I have bought some more workbooks for Aly and Sher to do before their brains turn rusty when school reopens! If I can remember, I will set work for them everyday. Aly and Sher will be sitting for their final exam in less than 2 months and that’s when my stress and blood pressure rise again. Oh well, that’s motherhood.
Chores I Simply Hate!
Today 2 new part-time maids will be coming to cover for the existing one who has gone back to her hometown to celebrate Hari Raya. I find it a hassle to have to supervise part-time maids, to ensure that things are done properly, orderly and thoroughly. Supervising the part-time maids takes up my time too and sometimes I feel like doing the chores myself when I have to waste time explaining to them and showing them how to do. But there are certain chores like washing the kids’ canvas shoes, school bags, wiping the ceiling fans and windows and ironing which I absolutely hate to the max! I do not mind washing the loos, moping the floor and learning how to reformat hard drive but definitely not the chores that I mentioned above. I rather spend some money to remain sane.
Sick And In Dire Need Of Rest
I have been coughing my lungs and ribs out for the past 5 days. It’s so bad that my ribs, stomach and lower armpit areas hurt a lot whenever I cough now. I hardly ever have cough and flu but the lack of sleep for the past 2 weeks has taken a toll on my immune system. All I feel like doing now is to hit the bed and have a 10-hour uninterrupted sleep but I still have a lot of work to be done. I have to find out which custom built laptops are the best to get, have some emails to reply and of course house chores that must be done. Perhaps the only way I can get a 10-hour uninterrupted sleep is when I check myself into the hospital now!
Varicose Veins During Pregnancy
I started to have swollen varicose veins on my legs when I was pregnant with Sherilyn. The swell on the varicose veins subsided after delivery of the baby but they were still quite obvious as I have very fair skin. When I was pregnant with Cass, my 3rd daughter, the varicose veins were swollen again and this time, it hurt badly and the veins were very prominent. It hurt even more when I was standing or walking. It was so bad that I had to buy juzo compression stockings and wore them at night from the 4th month of pregnancy until delivery. Though extremely uncomfortable on my legs, they did help a tad bid in reducing the swell on the varicose veins. After the birth of Cass, the varicose subsided but they are still pretty obvious on my legs up until today.
Lego Requires Patience
The girls received a bag load of goodies from their aunt from Hong Kong recently. Some of the gifts include 2 boxes of Star Wars Lego blocks, which cost a bomb over here. The 2 boxes of Star Wars Lego will keep the 3 girls occupied during the school holidays, which will start in 2 weeks. I think the 2 boxes of Lego will take them a whole week to be assembled as there are many tiny pieces, including some pieces that look like bolts and t-slot. I have never really liked Lego as I am not one who has the absolute patience to fix and assemble things.
