We will be going up North tomorrow for a week-long break. It’s our twice yearly break where we will go to Ipoh first and then to Penang for Baby’s bi-annually ultrasound scan of her kidneys. As usual, there’re going to be lots of pigging in on some of the best cuisines in the world, found in Ipoh and Penang. And as usual, during holidays, it’s hard to find the time to exercise. I hope I don’t need to get some ephedrine diet pills for quick weight-loss results after my holidays!

Was in Pg myself abt 2-3 weeks ago. If u like fried fish filet with soup noodles, there is a great place on McAlister Rd,; if u were to exit the Grand Paradise Hotel it would be on your right. There are also other add-on’s and they were all good. One of the best hokkien noodles(har mein) is across from the car entrance to Padang Brown. It is just a little coffee shop with the noodle stall in the front…closed on Tues, go early in the morning and be prepared to wait abt 20-30 mins. Also order the iced Nescafe from the coffee man..he just does it a bit different and very delish. I only had 2 days in Pg and ate like a fiend! I envy that u have so many more days! Oh..if u like western style food, I hear the Sun Yat Sen mansion/ restaurant, on McAlister Rd is very good. We went for coffee and dessert and it was yummy. Nice ambiance. There is a less formal cafe on site as well, closes at 6pm.
Chris, tks for all the great suggestions! Hope to give them a try
