HFM’s Healthy Breakfast – 24 June 2015

Goooood morning world!

If you’re tucking into some not so healthy breakfast right now, like a couple of greasy sausages, spam meat, ham or bacon (I know how good they taste), go easy on processed meat and artery-clogging food.  A little of something unhealthy everyday can accumulate into something really nasty inside you over time.

For a start, challenge yourself to eat something healthier today. C’mon you all can do it – for yourself and your loved ones 🙂

Let me show you my breakfast for today…

A slice of flour-free sprouted 7-grain bread with dad’s homemade pandan kaya, half a bowl of gluten-free macadamia cranberry muesli (brand – Brookfarm from Australia) and a tiny wedge of Patchi chocolate (thanks to hubs for the treat!).  This is my mid-morning brekkie.  I had an orange and a kiwi fruit at 6am this  morning and also a glass of apple cider vinegar with mangosteen juice and psyllium husk first thing in the morning.  Oh yes, I also downed a 200ML packet of Izumio hydrogen water for the much needed energy and to zap away the free radicals 🙂

Are you motivated yet to try having a healthy breakfast for a good headstart?  Your tastebuds can be trained and tamed, just like mine. In no time, you’ll feel the difference, trust me! 😉

Super Lutein and Izumio Hydrogen Water For Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a terrifying disease of the eyes. You will not know when you start having Glaucoma as there are no symptoms till much later. The only way of detecting it is when it is already too late and you start having symptoms and then you have to treat it, or to regularly go for an eye check up every 1-2 years if you are over age 40 and have a family history of Glaucoma. I am 42 this year and yes, I am terrified of getting Glaucoma and losing my sight!!   Very rarely do babies and children have glaucoma but it is possible. Better still, to be on the super safe side, just consume Izumio and Super Lutein for Glaucoma prevention and you will be able to prevent further deterioration of your eyes.

Glaucoma is a slowly progressing disease that causes damage to the eye’s optic nerve and can result in blindness. Open angle glaucoma, the most common form of the disease, affects about 3 million Americans. It is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. Since there are usually no early symptoms, half of the people with this disease don’t know they have it. With early treatment, serious vision loss and blindness can usually be prevented.

Glaucoma can only get worse or preserved. Meaning traditionally, it is treated with a life time of regular eye drops (can you imagine how inconvenient that is?) that you have to keep in temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius and applied regularly throughout the day? That would certainly be a pain for me and knowing how forgetful I am, I will probably just go blind.

The critical thing to note is that when you start having glaucoma (and I must stress this), you have no symptoms. That’s scary, isn’t it? We could all be happily going about our day to day lives and then suddenly, BANG!! Well, at least it’s not cancer. But you stand to lose your vision. It’s just as bad as cancer, no?

Signs and Symptoms
While symptoms do not initially occur, as the disease progresses, you can lose peripheral (side) vision and then central vision. Some signs can be found only during an eye exam, such as increased pressure inside the eye and optic nerve abnormalities. Other patients may complain of ocular pain, brow ache, rainbow-colored halos around lights, or blurred vision.  Nausea and vomiting are other symptoms.

What Causes It?
A clear fluid flows in and out of the space at the front of the eye, nourishing nearby tissues. Glaucoma causes the fluid to pass through too slowly or to stop draining altogether. As the fluid builds up, the pressure inside the eye increases, causing damage to the optic nerve and vision loss.

Supplements And Vitamins
Before you consider incorporating nutritional therapy into your glaucoma treatment regimen, it is important to consult your general physician. While no conclusive studies prove a connection between specific foods or drinks and glaucoma, it has been suggested that foods rich in the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin may be the most effective in protecting the health of the eye.

Foods high in lutein include egg yolks, kale, spinach, broccoli, corn and peas and other fruits and vegetables.

Zeaxanthin is found in many of these same foods, but oranges and corn contain more zeaxanthin than lutein. It is also believed that individuals with a high intake of omega-3 fatty acids may have a lower incidence of certain eye diseases. Good sources are coldwater fish, such as salmon, cod and mackerel, blackcurrant seed oil and flaxseed oil.

Lutein supplements are typically used in alternative medicine for eye diseases, such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Known to build up in the retina and lens of the eye, lutein is thought to protect the eye from injury induced by free radicals (chemical byproducts shown to damage cells and contribute to the development of certain diseases).

Some alternative medicine proponents claim that lutein supplements can also help prevent colon cancer, breast cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Taken at the correct dosage, Super Lutein can help to prevent Glaucoma, Cataract, Eye Floaters and other ailments from your entire body.

Super Lutein is a nutritional supplement containing rich amounts of carotenoids with benefits comparable to eating red, yellow, orange and dark green leafy vegetables.

Lutein, a pigment (carotenoid) found in fruits and vegetables, is known for being abundantly contained in kale, a vegetable made famous as the main ingredient of aojiru, or green juice. Spinach and broccoli are also sources of lutein. Carotenoids are pigments, available in a variety of bright colours such as yellow, red, purple, and orange, and are necessary for photosynthesis in plants. Several hundred kinds of carotenoids have been found in plants, among which, about 50 types are present in edible fruits and vegetables.

SUPER LUTEIN is formulated with lutein, lycopene—found in tomatoes, zeaxanthan—found in maize and egg yolk, as well as carotene—found in the orange-coloured pigments of carrots and pumpkins.

How much lutein do I need?

Without adequate consumption, the amount of lutein in the eye may deplete with age. Leading doctors recommend at least 6 mg of lutein per day to help maintain proper eye health. Since your body does not produce lutein, you must constantly replace it through the foods you eat. Dark, leafy green vegetables such as spinach or kale are very good sources.  However, you would have to consume more than two bowls of spinach every day to get the recommended dose of lutein!   Taking a multivitamin may help, but most multivitamins contain only a fraction of the recommended dosage of lutein.

Carotenoids in Super Lutein helps to suppress Cancer

Super Lutein – No. 1 Natural Anti – Cancer Food in Japan.

Super Lutein – a great source of lutein

Super Lutein from Naturally Plus contains high-quality  FloraGLO Lutein plus other vitamins and minerals to help address your eye health concerns, or maintain your eye health.

Make your choice. Would you rather prevent Glaucoma or would you rather treat it? Izumio and Super Lutein for Glaucoma do not only help to prevent Glaucoma but prevents many other chronic diseases for your entire body too. What a great deal that is. Some people get it. Some don’t. It is a choice that you need to think smart about.

I have spent umpteen number of days with Cass at numerous hospitals since she was 6 weeks old  and I have seen too many chronically ill people. It is really heart-breaking if you are the parent of a dying child. I have seen them all.  Take a trip to HKL (Hospital KL) – to the Nephrology and Urology Department (that’s where I normally bring Cass to) or better still, take half a day to visit the Radiology Department of HKL and these trips will be life altering. I have gone through it all, for 7 years and that is why, I value good health too much to let it slip away and then spend days on end at the hospital just to get it back.

Dangerous Chemicals In Toiletries and Make-Up

My face is often devoid of make-up. I don’t even have foundation and face powder in my vanity pouch.  Thank God for my parents’ genes, I have pretty flawless skin.  The most I’ll do is to dust some baby powder on my face and brush a stroke or two of blusher on my cheeks. Occasionally, I will draw my eyebrows and put on a little color on my lips. I dispose my lipstick after a year, even if the stick is not even 50% used.  I really hate to think of what the chemicals will do to my body when I ingest chemicals from the lipstick that I put on.

See this list here?  This applies to everyone, not just eczema sufferers. When we use these products with hidden chemical, it is indirectly entering our bloodstream and over time causes harm to our bodies. Breast cancer is just one disease you can get from over use of such products, for example.

This is how manufacturers screw consumers!

My friend chanced upon this Drug Facts labelling when her young daughter peeled it off her Lady Speed Stick.  Tell me, who would actually tear the label off to read what’s overleaf.  I’ll just chuck my empty toiletry container into the recycle bin without giving a hoot to peel off the label to read what’s overleaf.

This particular speed stick, looked pretty innocent with a sticker at the back showing its ingredients.  Check out the 4th line – it says ‘Ask a doctor before use if you have kidney disease’.  So what does this mean?  It is trying to warn you that the chemicals from the Speed Stick enter our bloodstream and if you are a kidney patient, the chemicals may exacerbate your condition.

That is why I never use roll-on anti-perspirant and anti-deodorant. Even with talcum powders, I read the ingredients very carefully and only use baby talcum powders made from corn and other natural ingredients.  Once I bought a bottle of talcum powder with cooling effect. I liked it a lot as it gave me a nice cooling sensation and I loved the fragrance.  Then, the health freak me read the list of ingredients carefully and I was horrified when I read that Triclosan is one of the ingredients in it. Go Google to find out what Triclosan is.   I  buy shampoos and soaps without  SLS and paraben, though they cost so much more than regular ones.  And I drink Izumio everyday.  The hydrogen from Izumio acts to flush out toxins from our body through sweat and urine, besides balancing the pH within the body.  Hydrogen is the smallest atom in the world that can penetrate your cells at a mitochondrial level and has strong anti-oxidant properties, eliminating free radicals within your body at enormous rates.

It is really quite hard for many of us to avoid using make-up, toiletries with hidden chemicals and expose ourselves to toxic chemicals. Even the Clorox (which is highly corrosive) that you use to clean your toilets and whiten your white shirts are highly toxic when mixed with ammonia.

So do yourself a favor today by giving your body a detox to rid it of toxins and free radicals.  Besides the simple fruit and veggie detox, juice cleanse, exercise and drinking detox tea, you can also drink hydrogen water.  Choose one that suits your lifestyle.  Do not wait till your body is overloaded with toxins and serious ailments start to creep out.  Start detoxing your body today! 🙂

Effects Of Sleep Deprivation

If you ask me which department I really need to start buckling down with immediate effect, it would be my ‘sleep department’.  I am chronically sleep deprived ever since my live-in helper went back to her country for good 3 years ago.  Even when our live-in helper was around, I was already not getting sufficient sleep and with her leaving, I have since been piling more onto my already full-to-the-brim plate.

Next, you would be wondering how much sleep I get everyday.  On good days, I get a maximum of 6 hours. On most days, I get 5 hours. Sometimes fewer hours.  I know this is bad.  I have already cut down on many non-necessity chores and I have no time to watch TV or to indulge in online games, unlike many of my friends who still have the luxury for these. I wonder how some full-time working mums and SAHMs can still find the time to watch TV and play online games.   My social life is pretty pathetic and meeting friends is an occasional luxury that I get.

All I can say is that being chronically sleep deprived is damaging to my health.  My tolerance and patience levels are very low, I snap at everyone quickly, especially my kids, I am grumpy, groggy, forgetful, foggy at times, emotional, have lowered stamina when I exercise every morning and I feel lethargic.  Fortunately, I was introduced to Izumio hydrogen water and Super Lutein about 1.5 months ago to help  ease my lethargy and strengthen my immune system.  These products have given me back the energy and mental acuity that I need so much everyday so that I can function.

To be a full-time SAHM (stay at home mum) is tough already. But to juggle between being a SAHM and WFHM (work from home mum), it is akin to juggling 5 balls whilst walking on a tightrope hung 10 meters above ground!  Every single day.

The average adult needs about seven to nine hours of sleep each night, according to the National Sleep Foundation, but most of us don’t even get that much. But getting too little sleep — generally understood to mean six hours or less a night, can be serious — enough to change your genes!

Of course, one night of short sleep won’t put you at serious risk, but one week can. After just seven nights of too little sleep, researchers observed more than 700 genetic changes that could play a role in consequences including heart problems and obesity, according to a recent study.  OMG, I am petrified! And I am trying my level best to let go of some things just so I can get an hour extra of sleep each day.

Today, I want to share with you the scary effects of sleep deprivation.

Sleep deprivation can:

1) Lead to obesity
Too little sleep can spur some less-than-ideal food choices, including serving yourself larger portions, and a hankering for junk food, thanks to some complicated hormonal changes that occur when you don’t get sufficient shuteye. It seems that six hours of sleep or less bumps up production of the hunger hormone ghrelin and limits leptin, which helps you balance your food intake, according to a 2012 review of 18 studies of sleep and appetite
2) Up Diabetes risk
A pair of small studies from 2012 examined the link between poor sleep and insulin resistance, a telltale risk factor for diabetes. One found that among healthy teenagers, the shortest sleepers had the highest insulin resistance, meaning the body is not using insulin effectively, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. The second study examined fat cells, in particular, and found that cutting back on sleep increased insulin resistance in these cells, even when diet and calorie intake were restricted, Health.com reported.

3) Damage bones
At least in rats, long-term sleep deprivation seems to contribute to osteoporosis, according to a 2012 study. Researchers found changes to bone mineral density and bone marrow in the rodents when they were deprived of shuteye over a period of 72 days.

4) Increase Cancer risk
A small (but growing) body of research suggests that short and poor sleep can up risk for certain types of cancer. A 2010 study found that among 1,240 people screened for colorectal cancer, the 338 who were diagnosed were more likely to average fewer than six hours of sleep a night. Even after controlling for more traditional risk factors, polyps were more common in people who slept less, according to the study.

Getting just six hours of sleep a night has also been linked to an increase of recurrence in breast cancer patients. The study’s author has pointed to more and better sleep as a possible pathway of reducing risk and recurrence.

5) Hurt your heart
The stress and strain of too little sleep can cause the body to produce more of the chemicals and hormones that can lead to heart disease, according to 2011 research. The study found that people who slept for six hours or less each night and have problems staying asleep had a 48 percent higher risk of developing or dying from heart disease.

6) Kill sex drive
Sleep specialists say that sleep-deprived men and women report lower libidos and less interest in sex. Depleted energy, sleepiness, and increased tension may be largely to blame.

For men with sleep apnea, a respiratory problem that interrupts sleep, there may be another factor in the sexual slump. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in 2002 suggests that many men with sleep apnea also have low testosterone levels. In the study, nearly half of the men who suffered from severe sleep apnea also secreted abnormally low levels of testosterone during the night.

7) Kill you
It’s not just heart problems that can lead to sleep-deprivation-related death. In fact, short sleepers seem to die younger of any cause than people who sleep about 6.5 to 7.5 hours a night, TIME reported. A 2010 study examined the impact of short sleep on mortality and found that men who slept for less than six hours of sleep a night were four times more likely to die over a 14-year period. The study’s authors called this link “a risk that has been underestimated.”

8) Age your skin
Most people have experienced sallow skin and puffy eyes after a few nights of missed sleep. But it turns out that chronic sleep loss can lead to lackluster skin, fine lines, and dark circles under the eyes.

When you don’t get enough sleep, your body releases more of the stress hormone cortisol. In excess amounts, cortisol can break down skin collagen, the protein that keeps skin smooth and elastic.

Sleep loss also causes the body to release too little human growth hormone. When we’re young, human growth hormone promotes growth. As we age, it helps increase muscle mass, thicken skin, and strengthen bones.

“It’s during deep sleep — what we call slow-wave sleep — that growth hormone is released,” says sleep expert Phil Gehrman, PhD. “It seems to be part of normal tissue repair — patching the wear and tear of the day.”

9) Make you forgetful
Trying to keep your memory sharp? Try getting plenty of sleep.

In 2009, American and French researchers determined that brain events called “sharp wave ripples” are responsible for consolidating memory. The ripples also transfer learned information from the hippocampus to the neocortex of the brain, where long-term memories are stored. Sharp wave ripples occur mostly during the deepest levels of sleep.

Dangers of Eczema Steroid Creams

If you’re suffering from eczema and using a steroid cream of some sort, you need to know this.

It is a known fact that topical hydrocortisone cream for conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis can cause a number of side effects. Most over-the-counter topical steroids contain 1% of hydrocortisone while prescription hydrocortisone creams contain much more hydrocortisone.

What is hydrocortisone?
It is a steroid used to reduce inflammation. It can be bought over the counter or Doctors can prescribe larger doses of it. Before you spring into action and grab the first hydrocortisone cream you can get your hands on, please take the time to understand your skin structure first.

Our skin is designed to protect us from countless external toxins – air pollution to murky lake water, from dirty gasoline pump handles to staph (skin infection).

Skin cells provide a physical barrier, sort of like bricks and mortar, to keep the bad things out – most of the time. The cells aren’t as tightly packed as real bricks though, which means things can still squeeze by and penetrate.

The bad news is that strong chemicals can penetrate sensitive or thin skin, cause an allergic reaction, and dangerously flood your bloodstream. Hydrocortisone significantly increased the chances of a number of viruses to infect human blood cells and has even been known to cause blood poisoning.

When you apply hydrocortisone cream to sensitive spots such as the eyelids, armpits, and groin (all places where eczema, rashes, and allergic reactions are particularly common), skin is thinner and more folds exist, so skin hits skin often, which can cause medications to penetrate more deeply.

These areas are also prone to stretch marks, irritation, hypo-pigmentation (lightening), and “a crinkly, cigarette-paper” appearance.

Continued use of topical steroid creams containing hydrocortisone can cause the skin to develop a resistance (called tachyplaxis) to the medication. As a result, in order to have the desired medical effect, a stronger and more potent steroid may be needed, which may cause even more potential side effects.

These side effects may include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system.

So before you go out and get your hands on a hydrocortisone cream to heal that skin condition of yours or your child’s externally, think about it – why not heal from within and never have to deal with hydrocortisone creams or eczema or psoriasis ever again?

IZUMIO Hydrogenated water helps to reduce the toxins in our bodies and neutralize cytotoxic free radicals in our bodies which leads to diseases. It also helps to hydrate the body from within. Super Lutein helps to build the body’s immunity and helps make the body more resistant to allergens.

I know of  many happy customers with eczema who are in the process of healing and have been been healed with IZUMIO and Super Lutein. There is a hope! There is an alternative way to heal from within.

Cancer Patients Drinking Hydrogen-Rich Water

A blog reader’s mother will be undergoing chemotherapy soon for cancer. My blog reader asked me whether Izumio hydrogen water is  good for cancer patients, to which I told her that we have members (Naturally Plus Malaysia) with cancer markers brought down significantly after consuming Izumio and Super Lutein. Recently, a customer was healed from Prostate Cancer WITHOUT chemotherapy, which is unbelievable! His cancer marker from a few hundred has come down to just 8. He was a Stage 4 Prostate Cancer patient. He is 74 years old and very healthy now. He took 15 Super Lutein capsules and 5 packets of Izumio for 2+ months now. His doctor is really amazed.

Hydrogen-rich water is also scientifically known to increase the Quality Of Life (QOL) of patients receiving radiotherapy. I did a Google search and found a research paper from the US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health dated 7 June 2011.  Here are some excerpts from the Research Paper:

Effects of drinking hydrogen-rich water on the quality of life of patients treated with radiotherapy for liver tumors

Background

Cancer patients receiving radiotherapy often experience fatigue and impaired quality of life (QOL). Many side effects of radiotherapy are believed to be associated with increased oxidative stress and inflammation due to the generation of reactive oxygen species during radiotherapy. Hydrogen can be administered as a therapeutic medical gas, has antioxidant properties, and reduces inflammation in tissues. This study examined whether hydrogen treatment, in the form of hydrogen-supplemented water, improved QOL in patients receiving radiotherapy.

Methods

A randomized, placebo-controlled study was performed to evaluate the effects of drinking hydrogen-rich water on 49 patients receiving radiotherapy for malignant liver tumors. Hydrogen-rich water was produced by placing a metallic magnesium stick into drinking water (final hydrogen concentration; 0.55~0.65 mM). The Korean version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer’s QLQ-C30 instrument was used to evaluate global health status and QOL. The concentration of derivatives of reactive oxidative metabolites and biological antioxidant power in the peripheral blood were assessed.

Results

The consumption of hydrogen-rich water for 6 weeks reduced reactive oxygen metabolites in the blood and maintained blood oxidation potential. QOL scores during radiotherapy were significantly improved in patients treated with hydrogen-rich water compared to patients receiving placebo water. There was no difference in tumor response to radiotherapy between the two groups.

Conclusions

Daily consumption of hydrogen-rich water is a potentially novel, therapeutic strategy for improving QOL after radiation exposure. Consumption of hydrogen-rich water reduces the biological reaction to radiation-induced oxidative stress without compromising anti-tumor effects.

Background
Radiotherapy is one of the major treatment options for malignant neoplasms. Nearly half of all newly diagnosed cancer patients will receive radiotherapy at some point during treatment and up to 25% may receive radiotherapy a second time [1]. While radiotherapy destroys malignant cells, it adversely affects the surrounding normal cells [2]. Acute radiation-associated side effects include fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, loss of appetite, hair loss, sore skin, and depression. Radiation increases the long-term risk of cancer, central nervous system disorders, cardiovascular disease, and cataracts. The likelihood of radiation-induced complications is related to the volume of the irradiated organ, the radiation dose delivered, the fractionation of the delivered dose, the delivery of radiation modifiers, and individual radiosensitivity [3]. Most radiation-induced symptoms are believed to be associated with increased oxidative stress and inflammation, due to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during radiotherapy, and may significantly affect the patient’s quality of life (QOL) [2].

Hydrogen, a therapeutic medical gas, has antioxidant properties and reduces inflammatory events in tissues [4-6]. Drinking liquids supplemented with hydrogen represents a novel method of hydrogen gas delivery that is easily translatable into clinical practice, with beneficial effects for several medical conditions, including atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cognitive impairment during aging and in Parkinson’s disease [7-11]. Currently, there is no definitive therapy to improve the QOL of patients receiving radiotherapy. Drinking solubilized hydrogen on a daily basis may be beneficial and would be quite easy to administer without complicating or changing a patient’s lifestyle. We hypothesized that oral intake of hydrogen-rich water, generated via a magnesium stick, would reduce adverse events in patients receiving radiotherapy.

Conclusions
In conclusion, our study demonstrated that drinking hydrogen-rich water improved QOL and reduced oxidative markers in patients receiving radiotherapy for liver tumors. This novel approach of oral intake of hydrogen-rich water may be applicable to a wide range of radiation-related adverse symptoms.

Down With Flu – Super Lutein To The Rescue

I have been down with the sniffles for the past two days, no thanks to the girl who brought back the woeful virus from school and spread it to everyone!

Yesterday I felt so bushed and lackluster that I popped 6 caps of Super Lutein (double my usual dosage) and voila, today I am feeling so much better!  Nose not runny anymore and I could even brisk-walk 5 laps and climbed up the stairs to the 5th floor of my unit this morning!

So what’s the best food for someone who is down with a flu?  Porridge is always the to-eat food for sickly people and you can never go wrong with a bowl of hot smooth rice porridge with a little minced pork.

Since I still have some homemade dumplings in the freezer, I boiled some for Cass.

And so here’s my Hong Kong style lunch (don’t you think it looks like a meal from Din Tai Fung? 😉 ) on a school-going day. Simple, delish and absolutely hearty! 🙂

Super Lutein Goodness

The Japanese Association of Preventive Medicine for Adult Diseases (JAPA) have over 6,600 doctors in Japan with stringent guidelines for certification of natural remedies. More than 20,000 are sent to them annually for approval but only 20 are recommended. The criteria for approvals include:

1. All ingredients must be pure and natural without fillers or additives
2. There must be zero side effects towards the human body
3. Clinical test reports to confirm that the product actually helps the prevention of chronic diseases and cancer
4. Company not in debt, strong financial standing, without disputes with anyone and guarantees the continued quality of the products and the security of the production process
5. Approval for the quality supply of raw materials

And Super Lutein is a certified product, with numerous other certifications around the world. In Malaysia, Super Lutein has Halal certification and is registered with KKM (Ministry of Health) and approved as an over the counter product. It’s formulation also has patents in several major countries.

Super Lutein sold as a stand alone product for 8 solid years in Japan with increasing sales each year before Izumio was introduced.

Delivering 6 carotenoids, anthocyanin, DHA and Vitamin E to the body

SUPER LUTEIN is a well-balanced mixture of lutein, zeaxanthin, crocetin, ?-carotene, ?-carotene, lycopene, anthocyanin, DHA and Vitamin E.
The first seven ingredients are all phytochemicals: antioxidants that actively work to neutralize free radicals created through oxidation triggered by extrinsic and intrinsic factors on the body such as UV rays, blue light, air pollution and physiological stress. DHA is an omega(?)-3 fatty acid derived from fish oil, and Vitamin E is an antioxidant found naturally in various foods.
Ingested, the nutrients work alone and synergistically in combinations to help to maintain eye and skin health, prevent damage to vital organs and protect the body from illness.

Lutein + Zeaxanthin

Lutein by itself is found in the skin and retina of the eye; however, lutein and its coexisting molecule, zeaxanthin, are the predominant antioxidant pigments in the macula. Together they block UV rays and blue light from reaching underlying structures in the retina, thereby reducing the risk of light-induced oxidative damage that can lead to macular degeneration. They also work in combination with other antioxidants to neutralize free radicals produced by oxidation.

Lutein + Zeaxanthin + Anthocyanin (blackcurrant extract)

This triple combination contributes to providing the nutrition required by the eyes to maintain good vision, while anthocyanin by itself is known to contribute to improving blood circulation.

Lutein + Lycopene + Crocetin

This combination provides nutrition for maintaining healthy skin. Additionally, recent research suggests that crocetin contributes to managing skin inflammation caused by UV rays, and that consuming lycopene is a preventive measure against various carcinogenic diseases such as prostate cancer.

Lutein + DHA

DHA alone is said to improve blood circulation, reduce bad cholesterol count, support brain development and protect the ophthamalic nerve. The combination of lutein and DHA has been found in breast milk, which is said to contribute to infant eye, brain and cognitive development.

Super Lutein Authentication of Safety

Super Lutein has obtained U.S., Japan, Australia and European Union manufacturing patents. Beside this, Super Lutein has also obtained Japanese health food supplement GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practice ) and Japanese Omni-directional ISO 9001 and ISO22000 authentication, and become the healthy nutritious foods association’s members as well as recommended by the Japanese Association of Adult Disease Prevention.
