My late maternal grandma was very conservative and superstitious. When I was a child, I was not allowed to do many things. Some of them include no wearing of hair accessories that were white in color (she said only those mourning would wear white), getting white roses or any white flowers from friends was considered a taboo, no sticking of chopsticks on our bowl of rice (as this resembled burning of joss sticks to the dead) , no wearing of black or white throughout CNY, among others. But she was a very good grandma – very thrifty, creative, innovative, very strict but loving and a very good cook. I miss her a lot.

On some mornings, I will jog into a nearby area up on a hill in my neighborhood to enjoy the scenery of the city. This road houses less than a hundred units of luxury bungalows up a hill. Each bungalow is uniquely designed. Some of the units have nicely designed Address Plaque hanging on the pillar of the gate. Many of the units also have a guardhouse outside the house. Just at the entrance of the road leading to the luxury bungalows is another guardhouse. The guards there man the road barrier. It’s awe-inspiring to see those luxury bungalows that are so tastefully designed and I think each unit cost at least 5-6 million bucks. I often wonder how some people could earn so much to be able to afford such luxury.

Yesterday while jogging back from the park, I almost fell when I missed a step on the stairs. Thankfully, I managed to land on both feet firmly on the ground. Many years back, my right foot landed on its side when I walked down a curb. My foot was swollen to double its size! I was in absolute pain and could not walk for almost 2 weeks. 2 more years to the big four! Many people have been telling me that I don’t look a wee bit like I am nearing my forties but I do feel some differences between being in my twenties and being in my late thirties. Thankfully I don’t have any age spot yet, thanks to my parents’ good genes and also my daily exercise regimen. I hope I can still feel and look the same 10 years down the road. And I think very soon, I would need to invest in some anti-aging skin care products.

My girls are TV junkies. When I am busy with work, the TV is my most reliable babysitter. I guess even if I were to send my kids to a nanny who has other kids to babysit, she too, will rely on the TV to babysit the kids while she goes around to do her chores. My girls are so addicted to the TV that I call them TV addicts. I always nag at them to do their homework and to read a book when they choose the TV over other activities. I want to stop their addiction over the idiot box and encourage them to read more. For drug addicts, they can do heroin detox but for TV addicts, what’s the treatment? Maybe I’ll need to drive them out to the library or book store to break this ‘addiction’ in them!

While I love the functions in my Blackberry, I find that the keypad incredibly small and cramped, so small that I often press the wrong letter. It is really frustrating to have to keep deleting my wrongly keyed letters. If only Blackberry mobile phones have a touch screen version, I’ll bet more people will opt for Blackberry over its rival like the htc touchscreen and other iPhones with touchscreen. Do you agree with me?

Some of my friends and even strangers had commented to me that I should seek ‘sex selection baby’ procedures to get a baby boy since I have 3 girls. I tell them that this is crap to me. I am very thankful to God for giving me 3 beautiful girls. Nothing is more important than to have healthy and normal children. I sympathize with parents who have babies born with birth defects like cleft palate or other facial deformation. Birth defects like cleft palate can be caused by drugs like Topamax. I hurt my right foot while running a few mornings ago. It must be caused by the old pair of running shoes that was giving way. At the start of the run on the road, my right foot twisted to its side all of a sudden and I felt a gush of sharp pain taking over that foot. I had to stop for a while and hobbled for a few minutes. Luckily the pain went away and I continued running. However till today, there is still pain on the ankle when I twitch that foot. Sherilyn has been selected by her pre-school principal and teachers to represent her pre-school in an inter-school talent time competition, which will take place in 2 weeks’ time. The principal has already given out invitations like Rehearsal Dinner Invitations to all the parents whose kids are involved. I have to be prepared to sacrifice the whole day to give her moral support during the competition, which would include arts and craft, followed by singing. IF my princess wannabe emerges as the top 3 winners in the competition, she will move on to the next level, which is at an international level! If she really makes it this far, well, maybe this princess wannabe would have the confidence needed to be a future Malaysian Idol contestant!

Ever since I started having a digital camera about 8 years ago, I have not been printing out the pictures that I had taken with my digital camera as frequently as I used to when I had the traditional camera which used films. I have thousands of pictures stored in the hard disk of my desktop waiting to be printed out into hard copies. If I have the time, I would really love to transfer all the pictures from my desktop computer into a scrapbook, 1 scrapbook for each of my girls. This is one of the items in my Free Time To-Do List.
