Cass has such a ravenous appetite. She loves food and can eat more than both her elder sisters. She eats almost everything but she does not really fancy eating broccolis or cauliflowers. When she is served broccolis or cauliflowers, she will give me a lame excuse that they are very hard, though I had made sure that the flowers are soft! But when she sees biscuits as hard as an acme thread, she can still gobbled them up without any fuss!

East Meets West
I normally cook whatever I find in the fridge. What I cook also depends on how much pending work I have. On some days, I will cook up something wacky like porridge for lunch. And for dinner, I’ll just steam some fish and prepare a salad, like this one…
East meets West…
1) Roast pork ribs porridge with dried mushrooms and sweet potato
2) Steamed cod fish and white pomfret fish with red dates, dried mushrooms and spring onions. I seasoned this dish with soy sauce, sesame seed oil and pepper.
3) Broccoli salad with green apples, green pears, cherry tomatoes, sunflower seeds, hard boiled eggs and Goma salad sauce.
Healthy stuff eh? Something ‘ching’ (not oily and heavy), easy to whip up, no oil splatters but still a lot of washing to do! Thank you Lord for sending me a very good part time maid to help me with the cleaning up every evening!
Business Card
People whom I have newly befriended often ask me what I do. I tell them that I am a work-from-home-mum and I tell them that I earn money from the internet. They would then ask me for my business card and I tell them that though I am my own boss, I have no business card and I work in my pajamas at home lol! Perhaps I should consider getting myself a business card so that I can advertise my online store, blogs and another small-time business that I am currently involved in. Business cards do not cost a lot. Perhaps I should add this into my New Year Resolution list too! And I should also check out business card printing from printingamerica.com to get ideas for my business card.
Making Full Use Of Her Time
I can see that Cass is someone who likes to make full use of her time and does not like to idle away time. While waiting for the food to arrive each time we eat out, she will bug me for some activities to kill time. The first thing that she would ask me is for some Math questions. She is a Math lover and can now do addition pretty well at age 4.5YO. Or she will ask for a piece of paper to draw or write. Sometimes she will count toothpicks, sugar sachets, Navy coins or anything that she sees on the table. I am glad that my baby girl is not someone who likes daydreaming and does nothing like a lazy bum.
The Girls’ Art Class
Alycia, Sherilyn and Cass are enjoying their art class very much. Besides learning the techniques of painting with water color and oil pastels, their art teacher has taught them how to paint fridge magnets, make lanterns, make Father’s Day gifts, Mother’s Day gifts and other interesting crafts. The other day, they made a very pretty Frisbee too. I am really glad that they are enjoying their art class. Though painful on our budget as we are spending on 3 kids, it is worth every sen.
You can check out a range of awesome personalized frisbees here too.
Off To Cold Turkey
The thick winter clothing that my mum brought to her recent trip to Turkey were warm enough for her. My mum and dad spent 10 very blissful days in winter cold Turkey, though they went cold turkey on hot weather. No pun intended hehe. They went on a hot air balloon ride and the strong winds blew the hot air balloon off track. The hot air balloon with many tourists on board landed in some jungle and the tourists, including my parents were rescued many hours later. They survived on wild grapes in the jungle and my mum had so many interesting Turkey tales to regale to us when we were back in Ipoh recently. But bummer, after the cold Turkey trip, my mum’s asthma resurfaced and she is now nursing a bad cough. Next time, I must ask her to buy Marmot winter clothes instead. Yes, they are much warmer. You can check out stylish marmot here.
Converting Our Wedding Video Into DVD
Our wedding ceremony was filmed and stored in a video tape that is over 12 years old. I still have the video tape with me but the problem is that video players are obsolete now. Maybe they still do exist but I have not seen one for aeons. When I was eight years old through my teenage years, the craze then was to rent video tapes from those video tape shops at RM2 per tape. We would spend our long school holidays chasing TVB series from the rental of video tapes. I remember watching 10 tapes a day with my brothers and dad till the wee hours of the morning. How I miss those simple, care-free days in my hometown. Back then entertainment outlets were scarce and watching rented video tapes was a luxury. Does anyone still use a video player now? And are video tapes still available for rental or for sale now?
Many times, our kids have asked to view our wedding video tape but there is no way we could play the video tape as we had discarded our two video tape players many years ago ever since DVD and DVD players were born. My hubs has a friend who can help us convert our wedding video tapes and even our old film to DVD. I also want to convert our stacks of decades-old films into DVD so that our kids could have an insight of how daddy and mummy looked and did when we were their age. Besides our decades-old films and video tapes, I have some home videos of Alycia and Sherilyn recorded over eight years ago. One of the home videos was recorded during our trip to Hong Kong seven years ago. Alycia was only 21 months and Sherilyn 7 months. The last half of the home video is now damaged and I want to salvage it, no matter how much the cost is. I cherish the moments I spent with my kids and I know I will miss those moments with them when they are all grown up and have left the nest.
My First Teenage Party
I attended my very first boy-girl party when I was 14 years old. I still remember that day very clearly. I did not know how to dance and so were my friends. After watching our seniors dance their butt away, we went into one of the vacant bedrooms of our friend’s house to practice dancing lol! Those days, there were no ButtKicker music equipment. All we had were a mini compo, turned on full blast and several speakers. But we enjoyed ourselves to the max, especially during the slow dance session. My friends and I would wait anxiously for the boy of our dreams to ask us for a dance. The boy of my dreams did not ask me to dance with him, sadly but someone else did. He is now my other half! I wonder if teenagers and youngsters still have this sort of parties now.
Robot Vacuum Cleaner
The girls’ art teacher recently bought a robotic vacuum cleaner. Being a full-time teacher and tutor without the help of a maid, she has invested on many household gadgets to help her in the household chores. The robotic vacuum cleaner is programmed to vacuum the floor twice a day and a technician from the company will go to her house to service the robot every month. I am tempted to get the robot too! When we check out the robot next week, I will also check out a sound choice karaoke system which I am also very tempted to buy so that my girls and I can karaoke every night during the school holidays! 🙂
My Camping and Hiking Days
During my teenage years, I was a very active girl who loved to do everything outdoor, from cycling to camping, hiking, swimming, running, tree-climbing, mountain climbing, snorkeling and traveling. At 16 years old, we joined a 10-day jungle and sea adventure program at Wilderness Adventure Camp in Lumut and that was one of the best days of my life with my besties. I had a pair of good Vasque Boots which I brought along with me during all my camping trips. Those days, I was still very much dirt-resistance. I did not mind bathing in the stream, drinking stream water, peeing and pooing in the jungle and sleeping in dirty tents. I am a totally changed person now.
