Energy Zappers

The only time I can do my writing is when the kids are at school and at night when all three of them are in bed. With 4 hours of me time everyday in the morning and at night, I normally update my blogs, write my online assignments, churn out invoices and work on things that need thinking. The moment the three rascals are back, I hardly have time to do those things. A simple write-up on foam mattress which takes me 10 minutes to whip up without the kids around would take me hours or even half a day to dish out when the kids are around. The rascals can really zap off all my energy and leave me feeling terribly jaded by 8ish pm!

Wedding Ring

My dad and mum still wear their wedding rings on their fingers. And it’s been 42 long years they are married to each other. My dad wears two rings on his fingers – a wedding ring on this left ring finger and a green ring that looks like a military ring on his other ring finger. My hubs and I do not wear our wedding rings. Though I love wearing rings, it is just not practical for me to wear them 24/7 as I wet my hands all the time. The same goes for hubs who works in the food catering industry.

Finding Space

Years ago before the hubs bought an 8-seater MPV, we only had a 5-seater locally-made sedan car. It was pretty squeezy to fit in our family consisting of the mil, 2 small toddlers under 3 years old, the hubs, a maid (at one time we had 2 live-in maids) and myself. Then we upgraded to a 7-seater MPV when Cass was born. Still space was always a problem whenever we traveled back to our hometown as I would be bringing 2 huge suit cases, diapers, milk powder and all those baby stuff. Then the hubs upgraded to a bigger MPV and still, we struggled to find space to chuck in all our paraphernalia especially when we return to KL from Ipoh, with all the goodies from our hometown. We have considered installing a thule rack BUT as it is now, hub’s car roof is already very high and would sometimes brush the barrier of some parking lots.

Best Stress Therapy

My second most effective stress-therapy besides retail therapy is tummy therapy! Today I have been feeling pretty stressed up, caused mainly by workload and also lack of sleep. And I just did not feel like cooking lunch, so I got the hubs to take-away food. As usual, my foodie hubs bought more than what we could eat. There is just so much food on the dining table now, enough for our dinner too! As I am in a mood to binge today, I just sat at the dining table and munched on the roast chicken, char siew and baked paus till I feel stuffed and satisfied. As I am at it, binging away like an obese, I was working in my mind, on what to write for one of my posts on reporting engine. After stuffing myself full, I felt that my stress has melted away with the food too and I feel much better now lol!

The Best Birthday Gift

The hubs will celebrate his birthday in 2 months. Getting him a present is not as easy as getting a present for my dad. My dad will use or wear anything that I buy him, with much appreciation. Even if I present my dad with those stylish Men’s Leather Hats I am sure he will be ‘sporting’ enough to wear it to his birthday party. For my hubs, I think the best present from me to him is something that is inexpensive and given privately *coughs*

Daydreaming

My mind was swayed to the pretty yoga mat bags I saw the night before. I was so engrossed in those pretty bags that I caused a boo boo yesterday morning. With one hand carrying about 5kg of fresh meat and veggie that I had bought earlier and the mind straying from my head, I accidentally dropped the packet of coconut milk that I was holding with just one finger on the floor of the lobby. Gosh, it was messy with thick coconut milk splattered onto the walls. I am darn sure the guards from the control room must have seen me in the act from the CCTV and laughing their heads off. Thank goodness I saw the cleaner and called out to him to help me clean up the mess. God bless that man who did it obligingly. And I must be more careful next time!

Funny Names People Have

Sherilyn has a classmate by the name of Shalala. Yep like that catchy song with the many “shalalas” LOL! Sherilyn told me that sometimes the teacher will sing “Shalalalalal” when calling out to the girl. Poor girl, I am sure she has been getting many giggles and mockery from strangers and new friends upon hearing her funny name. I got to know of many other funny and hilarious names people have when I was working in the HR Dept. of a large bank years ago. Some people are named after fruits, animals, cars, etc. and I have a male friend whose name sounds like some branded briefcase for men LOL!

Against Antibiotics

Do you bring your kids to the doctor each time she has a sore throat or a cold? I don’t. I prefer to self treat.  Though it will take a longer recovery period, I can live with that. I do not believe in feeding my kids with antibiotics and meds each time they have a throat infection or cold as this will only weaken their immune system and the bacteria will get immunity against the antibiotics.  I can vouch on that as 1) Alycia was a sickly toddler who fell sick every month on end when she first attended pre-school.  Being a new mother, we brought her to the paed each time she fell ill and was fed with antiobiotics till her body became resistant to them.  2) Cass was on long term antibiotics due to her Grade 3 Kidney Reflux and monthly UTI attacks.  I have seen how those bacteria became resistant to all the different antibiotics prescribed to her.  I was hopeless 3 years ago.  Thank God, all is now over and I can better handle my daughters’ health now.

Dedicated Teacher

Alycia has a very dedicated and hardworking class teacher. Alycia is seldom very attached to someone and she likes her class teacher a lot. She told me that she would like to get her teacher one of those coaches gifts to be given to the teacher on the last day of school. This teacher is by far the only teacher whom I know of who encourages parents to call her on her mobile phone to ask her anything about their child in class. Alycia is going to miss this teacher when she goes to a different class next year.

Zonked Out Again

I have been getting only 5 hours of sleep for the past 2 nights. Oh what else? Busy with work as always and it has been worse ever since the live-in maid left. This morning I woke up feeling really zonked out. I was really tempted to get back to bed for another 5 minutes of shut eye but I know that if I did that, the seemingly 5 minutes would turn out to be an hour. And the girls will miss the van for school. So I went through the early morning motions and by 9am, I was feeling really edgy due to lethargy. I quickly took a cat nap and darn, 15 minutes later the inter-com from the guard startled me up from bed. The part-time maid had arrived. I pulled myself up from bed again. With a heavy head now, I have to quickly get my post on hydraulic manifolds completed before Cass is back from school, followed by Alycia and Sherilyn.
