Egozite For Treatment Of Nappy Rash And Soreness

When Baby C had terrible purging during her stay in the hospital, her diaper area turned really sore.  Her diaper area was as red as lobster and each time we washed the area after her poopie business, she screamed and cried in pain. Our surgeon prescribed her with Egozite (which contained zinc oxide). Each time after she poo pooed, I cleaned her diaper area with saline, thereafter applied Egozite generously. After several days, the soreness subsided. Though very effective in preventing nappy rash and soreness, a small 50g tube of Egozite costs a whopping RM19.90! I didn’t know the price and happily ordered 2 more tubes from the pediatric ward when the first tube was finished. When the bill came, I was shocked to see the price. Hubby had gone to a few pharmacies in Penang to hunt for Egozite but none of them sell it.  Egozite is lanolin-free and hydrocortisone-free and is made in Australia.

Yes, this cream is great for nappy rash. I used it on both my girls. In fact, I like Ego products, especially for my eldest girl who suffered eczema really badly when she was a baby.

I tried it before but didn’t work for Reese. Finally I found one product that I can really swear by it and the best thing is… it’s not medicated and thus… you can use it as often as you want. It’s only available at the hospitals. It’s Zink Oxide cream. Do you know all nappy rash cream has zink oxide? Nothing works better than just pure zink oxide and it’s the thing that sheilds the skin from urine or poo poo or sweat. It’s also cheap. I got my supply from Pantai Hospital Bangsar and for each tub it’s about 12 or less… can’t remember how much. Maybe you should try it and it really works. It was recommended by Reese’s Peditrician.

Florence… yes, I know which one you’re talking about. My ped in KL had prescribed that for BBC several times. Pretty cheap. Next time, I’ll just get my ped to prescribe that plain zinc oxide for BBC.
