Converting Our Wedding Video Into DVD

Our wedding ceremony was filmed and stored in a video tape that is over 12 years old. I still have the video tape with me but the problem is that video players are obsolete now. Maybe they still do exist but I have not seen one for aeons. When I was eight years old through my teenage years, the craze then was to rent video tapes from those video tape shops at RM2 per tape. We would spend our long school holidays chasing TVB series from the rental of video tapes. I remember watching 10 tapes a day with my brothers and dad till the wee hours of the morning. How I miss those simple, care-free days in my hometown. Back then entertainment outlets were scarce and watching rented video tapes was a luxury. Does anyone still use a video player now? And are video tapes still available for rental or for sale now?

Many times, our kids have asked to view our wedding video tape but there is no way we could play the video tape as we had discarded our two video tape players many years ago ever since DVD and DVD players were born. My hubs has a friend who can help us convert our wedding video tapes and even our old film to DVD. I also want to convert our stacks of decades-old films into DVD so that our kids could have an insight of how daddy and mummy looked and did when we were their age. Besides our decades-old films and video tapes, I have some home videos of Alycia and Sherilyn recorded over eight years ago. One of the home videos was recorded during our trip to Hong Kong seven years ago. Alycia was only 21 months and Sherilyn 7 months. The last half of the home video is now damaged and I want to salvage it, no matter how much the cost is. I cherish the moments I spent with my kids and I know I will miss those moments with them when they are all grown up and have left the nest.

  1. Why didn’t you ask me? I still have a VCD Player in good working condition here in Ipoh. Perhaps you could let the kids enjoy viewing all those VCDs when they next come back.

  2. Sorry for the mistake….it’s a video tape player still in good working condition…!
