Off To Cold Turkey

The thick winter clothing that my mum brought to her recent trip to Turkey were warm enough for her. My mum and dad spent 10 very blissful days in winter cold Turkey, though they went cold turkey on hot weather. No pun intended hehe. They went on a hot air balloon ride and the strong winds blew the hot air balloon off track. The hot air balloon with many tourists on board landed in some jungle and the tourists, including my parents were rescued many hours later. They survived on wild grapes in the jungle and my mum had so many interesting Turkey tales to regale to us when we were back in Ipoh recently. But bummer, after the cold Turkey trip, my mum’s asthma resurfaced and she is now nursing a bad cough. Next time, I must ask her to buy Marmot winter clothes instead. Yes, they are much warmer. You can check out stylish marmot here.

I was in Turkey too last Sept. Thankfully weather was not that cold then and we had a fantastic time. Your Mum is pretty brave going there in the winter! One word abt winter clothing…unless she is skiing, I’d skip Marmot which is pricey. I’d suggest slightly cheaper brands like Columbia or even a down jkt from one of the China stores. Important point is to always layer in cold weather. For example wearing a pair of tights ((just plain nylon ones) under your pants makes a big difference. And a pair of plastic-type pants is great for shielding wind and the cold. Always wear a few layers for the top like a turtle neck with a sweater plus a vest or something. A scarve for the neck , gloves and a warm hat should be included.
