Another UTI

It’s a monthly affair. I think Baby C has another UTI. The urine FEME test today showed that there are WBC (white blood cells) and RBC (red blood cells) in the urine, which suggest bacteria in the urine. Once the urine C&S report is out in 3 days’ time, we will know what bacteria is in the urine and our doctors can then treat Baby C. Oh God, why why why is this happening so frequently? I am just praying that whatever treatment is given to Baby C (antibiotics drips or antibiotics jabs), God will remove all her pain and fears.

I just knew Baby C would get another UTI. I am just so used to all the initial classic symptoms from the purging to the sore labia, the yellowish discharge and the foul smelling discharge or pee.

I just wonder why aren’t all the health supplements helping Baby C’s body fight off all the bacteria? The expensive cactus juice, the expensive herbal yeast supplement and the probiotics. If that’s the case, I might as well just stop feeding her all these supplements which is just soooooo stressful and traumatic for Baby C and me. There is not a single month since Baby C was 2 months old that she wasn’t spared from UTI or bacteria in her pee. I am really mentally prepared for Baby C to go for a surgery to fix the Kidney Reflux but hubby is quite opposed to the idea as he says Baby C is too young. He wants Baby C to be at least over a year old….. but I don’t think I can handle the stress for this long. Sigh…..

i’m terribly sorry to hear about this shireen. i think those health supplements probably take time to work. does she have problem with taking millenium since it’s kinda sweet?

Barb… initially, she hated Millenium, now she’s quite ok with it, provided I dilute it, coz she hates anything that tastes sweet. But she absolutely hates the herbal yeast supplement. It’s a real battle feeding her that everyday.

It’s a few more months before baby C turns one. Like your hubby said, perhaps it would be a good idea for her to turn one first. But you can convince FT that it’s better to do earlier rather than later so that she is less traumatised by the surgery.

Can I also suggest that perhaps you could consult with another paed for another opinion? My paed is Dr Kwan Poh Woh in DJ. I find him very well-connected with all the child specialists so even if he cannot treat baby C, he can hook you up with one of his friends. My 2nd bro even managed to get a last-minute appt with a very popular surgeon last time just by mentioning his name. Just a thought. YiYi uses the same paed too….his clinic is opened from 8:30am-12pm and 6pm-8pm everyday except Sunday when he doesn’t open at night. His clinic is back-to-back with Dominos Pizza at Dsara Jaya. Just a suggestion…….

Hui Sia… the frequent UTI is caused by her grade III Kidney Reflux and the positioning of her ureter. That’s why a ureter reimplantation surgery may be able to fix the KR…. but it’s not 100% guaranteed that she will be freed from UTI after the surgery.

Paik Ling… thanks for the recommendation. DJ is too far for me. The pediatric nephrologist that we are currently seeing at SJMC is the only one in private practice and she’s a very senior doctor. She was a lecturer to many of the paeds who studied at UKM. The pediatric surgeon that we are currently seeing is also a very good surgeon.

oh..poor you and baby C. It is definitely not easy for you and Baby C too. Such frequent occurrence of UTI attack have really drained u up.

Take a short break away from the kids and free your mind from all the problems every day for a short 15 to 30 minutes a day may help. Talk to your hubby to release your tension and worries.

Hi HFM,

i think better to use traditional napkin diaper compare to disposable diaper to prevent UTI. Disposable diaper content SODIUM POLYACRYLATE and DIOXIN, both are very harmful chemical and will cause diaper rash and infection. If you use traditional napkin diaper, you can tell once the diaper is wet, plus, is a fabric, hence is 100% natural and breathable. It dry quickly too.
