Organic Milkmaid Tea

Baby C will be turning one in just a few days and I’m glad that I am still breastfeeding her. Though I’ve received unkind and uncalled for remarks from some people saying that breastmilk is of no value after 1 year, I am resolute to keep breastfeeding my sweetiepie until she’s 18 months, that is if she still wants my milkie.

To keep my supply from flowing, I still swear by organic milkmaid tea and mother’s milk tea. Milkmaid tea and mother’s milk tea are made up mainly of fenugreek, a herb commonly used to increase milk supply. According to Kellymom.com, Fenugreek can be used short-term to boost your supply or long-term to augment supply and/or pumping yields.

This tea ain’t cheap, costs about RM2.60 per bag. But oh well, it’s still way cheaper than buying formula milk powder right?

what about eating fenugreek? i heard from one blogger mama who is breastfeeding her baby that she takes fenugreek. Not sure if it’s powder or pills form 🙂

This is the 1st time I come across comments saying that breastmilk is of no value after 1 year. I’d say trust your own judgement and continue feeding. Really envy all mummies who have ample and overflowing supply. Wish I had that “luxury” too… 🙂

Whoever said that breastmilk is of no value after 1 year needs their head examined. I could right out say that they are STUPID but, I won’t. Heehee.
The recommendation is to breast feed for at least 9 mths(also incl. pumping), and more if possible. Mammals like us produce milk, and will produce it as long as there is a demand for it. If the baby stops suckling or u stop pumping, the boob will dry up. I know, some people have areally hard time breastfeeding. Not sure if there is a local chapter of La Leche league but they are very helpful with suggestions. They also propose to breastfeed for as long as possible, although I’d rather not after the kid has teeth. My SIL who is a SAHM, breastfed till her dtr was almost 5, though it was mostly at nite, for comfort, more than anything. Nothing in this world is better than breastmilk from a healthy mother. There is no need to take supplements as long you eat nutritiously. Did u know companies like Nestle is actually responsible for baby deaths in the old days in underdeveloped countries when they said that formula was better than mother’s milk!??!! I don’t care if anyone from Nestle reads this, they can contact me if they dare!
Also, since C has other problems, best to keep to breast milk for her own protection!
